Crescent Creek empties into Gig Harbor Bay
at the north ("head.") of the bay. It's waters provide food and habitat for many animals, including coho and chum salmon, and steelhead trout. The health of this stream is an important part of our local watershed and part of the support system for many of the natural resources that provide food and employment for those who live here. This sign explains what this creek needs to stay healthy. Explore the creek by "peeking" under the surface and by learning about the many layers that make up a creek ecosystem..and why it should be important to you!
"Peek into the Creek" interpretive sign can be viewed at City Park
at the head (north end) of Gig Harbor Bay. When it is installed
in spring, 2008, it will be located at the site of a major
restoration effort spearheaded by Friends of Pierce County
in 2007. We congratulate them on their accomplishment and
are proud to have partnered with them and the city of Gig
Harbor on producing this sign. |
