The Local Watershed

The Local Watershed

Please click the image above to see a larger picture.

The Local Watershed illustrates how water is never new, but is constantly being recycled by nature in the soil, oceans and air.  This continuous recycling is called the “water cycle” and is important in understanding how to keep our waterways healthy.  Because water cycles, what happens upstream doesn’t get cleaned up when it washes into the Sound.

Learn more about “Sound Responsibility” for our local watershed by clicking on this sign.  We encourage you to engage in your own research, join a local watershed council (ours is called the KGI Watershed Council), and take the steps outlined on this sign to help keep our waters healthy.

“The Local Watershed” (2005) can be viewed at Donkey Creek Park on the corner of Harborview Dr. and North Harborview Dr.
