Did you know that the Puget Sound is really an estuary?  A body of water that is both saltwater and fresh?  The second largest estuary in our country to be exact.  This unique marine environment was created millennia ago by massive geologic forces that have created this complex shoreline and water environment that we and our fellow birds, plants, and animals call home.

The Biggest Sound Around” interpretive sign can be found at the Old Ferry Landing platform at the mouth of Gig Harbor Bay.  It was installed in November, 2007
