Get Your Feet Wet!
|
Get
Your Feet Wet is the flagship program of
Harbor WildWatch. It all began 4 years ago when our founder
set up a small activity station at Jerisich Dock with the
blessing of the city of Gig Harbor. The response from residents
and visitors was so overwhelmingly positive, we decided
to offer our interactive beach program on a regular published
schedule.
Come to the beach!
Puget Sound is the second largest estuary in America and a fragile ecosystem.
We bring awareness of the species that share our home, thereby encouraging
respect and a sense of stewardship for the bounty of our natural resources.
We schedule interpretive programs on our local
beaches on most low tide days
during the late spring and summer. You will be able to locate us by looking
for the blue canopy on the beach, and our volunteers and naturalists dressed
in blue shirts and hats. We collect live specimens (by permit), place them
in touch tanks, set up a resource table, and welcome curious visitors of all
ages.
We look forward to meeting you!
Check our calendar to
see when you and your family will be able to visit us on the beach. You can
catch a beach walk led by a trained marine naturalist, discover new life forms
you have never seen before, and learn how our behaviors impact these fragile
critters. Please come to the beach, and “Get
Your Feet Wet”
Learn. Have Fun.
